Ο Λευτέρης Πετρούνιας, ο χάλκινος Ολυμπιονίκης και άρχοντας των κρίκων, επισκέφτηκε το ξενοδοχείο της Εθνικής ομάδας για να συγχαρεί τους παίκτες και να ευχηθεί καλή επιτυχία στα επερχόμενα παιχνίδια. Ο ίδιος υποσχέθηκε ότι θα δώσει τον καλύτερό του εαυτό στον προημιτελικό με τη Γερμανία και ότι θα δώσει τον καλύτερο του στο γήπεδο. Το παρόν έγινε αφορμή για τους διεθνείς συμπαίκτες και τον προπονητή της ομάδας να εκφράσουν τον θαυμασμό τους προς τον Πετρούνια και να του εκφράσουν την υποστήριξή τους. Η επίσκεψη του αθλητή από τον χώρο της γυμναστικής συγκίνησε τους πάντες και έδειξε την αλληλεγγύη και την υποστήριξη που υπάρχει μεταξύ των Ελλήνων αθλητών.
