Star Wars Outlaws Specs Leave Some in Utter Disbelief

Ubisoft’s big new AAA game, Star Wars Outlaws, is once again causing some serious discussions in the gaming community with the latest reveal of its PC requirements. Fans are complaining on social media about the hefty RAM, CPU, and GPU power needed to run the game smoothly, even at lower resolutions.

Gamers are definitely concerned that the game will release in a polished state, with consistent frame rates. There are also concerns regarding the presence of a lot of bugs and glitches, given the scope of this game.

Star Wars Outlaws Has Some Pretty Demanding Specs

Ubisoft has shared an infographic detailing different target tiers for various gamers. The minimum tier supports 1080p resolution with low graphics at 30fps, while the ultra-tier aims for 4K resolution with ultra settings at 60fps, as is expected of modern AAA games.

To achieve these high-end settings, players will need some really powerful hardware. For 1440p resolution at high graphics preset and 60fps, a GPU like the RTX 3080, RTX 4070, or AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT is necessary.

For 4K resolution and 60fps, a CPU such as the AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D or Intel Core i7-12700K, paired with a GPU like the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 or AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX, is required. These demanding Star Wars Outlaws specs are making fans worry if their setups can handle it.

After this reveal, most fans are saying that the giant publisher doesn’t care about optimization anymore. While Star Wars Outlaws looks great, it’s far from cutting-edge in terms of graphical fidelity, animations, and other technical aspects.

Hence, everyone’s wondering why it would require such high-end hardware for a decent experience. The blame would fall upon poor optimization.

Ubisoft’s Troubled Optimization History

This has also led to concerns about whether the game will be polished at launch. Ubisoft’s track record with optimization issues isn’t helping ease these worries. Gamers are already speculating that even modern consoles like the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X might struggle to run the game even at 1440p, 60fps.

Fans are also hoping for a 60fps mode which is yet to be confirmed, and is something that’s essential for a smooth gaming experience. Given Ubisoft’s history with games like Massive Studio’s Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, which included a 60fps mode, there is some hope that Star Wars Outlaws might offer a similar option.

Ubisoft has a history of struggling with PC optimization. XDeifant had its PC optimization issues, which were plagued with performance problems at launch. Players experienced frequent crashes, frame rate drops, and numerous bugs.

Skull and Bones, Far Cry 6, and Watch Dogs Legion all had some relatively bad optimization problems on certain hardware as well. Given all these lacklustre PC releases, we can see why fans are cautious.

These examples show a pattern of Ubisoft’s struggles with optimizing their games for PC, and these rather demanding specs have only added to these worries. Guess we’ll find out when the game releases on the 30th of August, later this month.
