(WEHT) – An Evansville woman is facing charges of animal cruelty after leaving her dogs in the heat, resulting in one ******. Evansville Police say they received a call about one distressed and one deceased dog at the 1000 block of Covert Avenue. They say the reporter was working next door when he spotted the dogs. EPD and animal control say the dogs were suffering from heat exhaustion Police say they questioned the owner, Miesha Baxton, and says she left them outdoors the night before due to fleas in the home, and gave them water the next morning. Authorities say the water bowl was overturned and the dogs were not within reach of the bowl. EPD and animal control noted that the ***** dog was already showing signs of rigor mortis, and Baxton was placed into custody.
