Η Ιταλίδα πυγμάχος Άντζελα Καρίνι, αποφάσισε να αποσυρθεί από ένα αγώνα με την Αλγερινή αντίπαλό της, Intersex Ιμάνι Κελίφ στους Ολυμπιακούς Αγώνες, καθώς αισθάνθηκε ότι κάτι δεν πήγαινε καλά. Παρά το γεγονός ότι δεν έχει κρίνει την Κελίφ, εξέφρασε λύπη που δεν την χαιρέτισε πριν φύγει. Η Καρίνι δήλωσε ότι δεν έχει εγκρίνει ποτέ μια τέτοια συμπεριφορά και ζήτησε συγγνώμη από την Κελίφ. Ενώ ανέφερε ότι ένιωσε ότι ο αγώνας είχε τελειώσει πρόωρα και αποφάσισε να μην πάρει μέρος σε μια μάχη όπου ένιωθε ότι δεν ήταν πλέον χρήσιμη. Η Καρίνι εξέφρασε την ελπίδα της να ζητήσει και η ίδια συγγνώμη από την Κελίφ στο μέλλον.
