The *********** share market has tumbled to close out its worst day since March last year amid growing concerns the global economy is slowing at a faster rate than previously thought.

The S&P/ASX200 on Friday closed 2.1 per cent lower, or 171.5 points to 7943.2 on Friday and comes just one day after it traded above 8100 for the first time on record.
