2025 Toyota GR Corolla: Auto confirmed, *********** timing locked in

The Toyota GR Corolla hot hatch will join its GR Yaris sibling in offering buyers the option of an automatic transmission, and it’s also getting various performance and cosmetic upgrades.

are due in the fourth quarter of 2024 (October to December), with pricing expected to be announced closer to its arrival.

Unveiled today, the 2025 Toyota GR Corolla has gained the eight-speed automatic transmission also available in the updated

The two-pedal option isn’t the only change, with the GR Corolla’s turbocharged 1.6-litre three-cylinder engine receiving a 30Nm torque boost, now developing 400Nm – a tune previously reserved for the track-focused, two-seat Morizo Edition.

There’s no extra power, which ******** at 221kW across both transmissions, however Toyota claims it packs more of a punch at higher revs than before.

Toyota has also given the GR Corolla a new face, with its revised front bumper claimed to not only be more aerodynamic but also provide better cooling capabilities than the pre-update model.

According to Toyota, this includes better direction of air to the brake ducts, reducing the risk of overheating when on track.

Changes under the skin include a retuned suspension setup – claimed to improve the GR Corolla’s handling under acceleration through corners – as well as a revised anti-lock braking system calibration, more direct steering, and sharper clutch pedal engagement in manual versions.

It appears the GR Corolla Morizo Edition is no more globally, following its

There also appear to be no changes to the GR Corolla’s interior, which includes a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, 8.0-inch infotainment touchscreen, selectable all-wheel drive models (which split the torque between the front and rear axles) and sports seats.

The Toyota GR Corolla range currently opens at $64,190 before on-road costs tag for the GTS. It’s unclear how much of a change there’ll be with the 2025 lineup.
