Ο ΠΑΟΚ κατάφερε να κερδίσει την πρόκριση στον τρίτο προκριματικό γύρο του UEFA Champions League με δύο συνεχόμενες νίκες επί της Μπόρατς Μπάνια Λούκα. Η επιτυχία αυτή χάρισε στην ελληνική ομάδα άλλους 250 βαθμούς στην ειδική βαθμολογία της UEFA, με την Ελλάδα να βρίσκεται τώρα με 27.625 βαθμούς, μειώνοντας τη διαφορά της από την 14η Σκωτία. Αυτή η επιτυχία δίνει σε όλη την ελληνική ποδοσφαιρική κοινότητα το κίνητρο να συνεχίσει την πορεία προς την κορυφή. Στην αναλυτική βαθμολογία της UEFA, η Ελλάδα βρίσκεται στην 6η θέση μεταξύ άλλων ευρωπαϊκών χωρών, όπως η Τσεχία και η Ισραήλ. Ο ΠΑΟΚ κερδίζει έτσι αναγνώριση και διεθνή προβολή για την ελληνική ποδοσφαιρική σκηνή.
