Body found in search for missing teenager on the Norfolk Fens

Search teams have found the body of a teenage canoeist who went missing on the water, police said.

Norfolk Police said an18-year-old’s body was found in the water following searches of the Middle Level Main Drain in Wiggenhall St Germans, near King’s Lynn.

The man was reported missing at 15:39 BST on Sunday after his inflatable kayak was seen capsizing by a member of the public, who called police.

The force said formal identification is yet to take place, but the teenager’s family had been informed and were receiving support.

The teenager’s ****** is currently being treated as unexplained but not suspicious and a file will be passed to the coroner, police said.

Emergency services, including a ***** team with sonar capabilities, specialist dogs, Norfolk ***** and Rescue Service and Lowland Search and Rescue were involved in the search.

A cordon put in place while the operation was under way has now been lifted.
