Στους Ολυμπιακούς Αγώνες “Παρίσι 2024”, η Μόλι Ο’Κάλαχαν κατέκτησε το χρυσό μετάλλιο και έσπασε το ρεκόρ αγώνων στα 200μ. ελεύθερο γυναικών. Η πρωταθλήτρια του Τόκιο, Αριάρν Τίτμους, είχε να αρκεστεί στο ασημένιο μετάλλιο, ενώ η τρίτη θέση καταλήχθηκε στη Σιομπάν Χόγκι από το Χονγκ Κονγκ. Με εκπληκτική επίδοση των 1:53.27, η Ο’Κάλαχαν αναδείχθηκε νικήτρια σε έναν αγώνα που θεωρείται εμφύλιος. Η ανταγωνιστικότητα και η ένταση του αγώνα ήταν υψηλές, καθώς οι αθλήτριες προσπάθησαν να δώσουν τον καλύτερο τους εαυτό για να κερδίσουν μια θέση στο βάθρο. Με τη νίκη της, η Ο’Κάλαχαν απέδειξε την ανωτερότητά της σε αυτήν την κατηγορία κολύμβησης, αφήνοντας τις ανταγωνίστριές της πίσω.
