Sent to CarExpert by reader Anthony, this photos show a left-hand drive example of the new Nissan Patrol – sold in markets like the US as the Armada – driving on Melbourne’s Calder Freeway.

, the Nissan Patrol ‘Y63’ is set to be revealed in the third or fourth quarter of the ********* financial year, which runs from October 2024 to March 2025.

Based on previous remarks from Nissan executives, we’d expect the reveal to be before the end of the year.

Like the Infiniti, the new Patrol is expected to be powered by a 3.5-litre twin-turbo petrol V6 engine, capable of producing 336kW of power and 698Nm of torque.

This would be a 38kW and 138Nm increase on the current Patrol’s naturally aspirated 5.6-litre V8, and a 109kW gain but 2Nm drop on the 3.3-litre V6 turbo-diesel powering the Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series.

Nissan’s new engine will be mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission – rather than the existing seven-speed – and a choice of rear- or four-wheel drive, at least overseas. It’s expected to remain four-wheel drive-only in Australia, as the Patrol has been for almost 40 years.

The ageing Nissan Patrol recorded slightly less than 4000 sales in Australia throughout the opening half of the year, however the LandCruiser wagon – which includes the 300 Series and the 70 Series wagon/Troop Carrier – has recorded more than double this figure.

Australia last saw a new Nissan Patrol in showrooms way back in 2013, three years after the Y62 launched overseas.
