The Penguin’s New Comic-**** Trailer Unleashes A War For Gotham’s Underworld

During San Diego Comic-****, a trailer for The Penguin was released. The upcoming spin-off of The Batman will be a limited series branded as an HBO Original. The Batman’s Colin Farrell is reprising his role as Oswald “Oz” Cobblepot, and where others see disaster, the Penguin sees an opportunity to take control of the ********* underworld. But as shown in the new trailer, Oz has a significant adversary in his way.

Since Carmine Falcone was ******* in The Batman, his daughter–Sofia Falcone (Cristin Milioti)–believes that she’s the natural choice to take over the ****** family. That puts her at odds against Oz, and for the first time, we see that Sophia was apparently institutionalized in Arkham Asylum. It also suggests that she may be a vigilante ******* known as the Hangman.

The trailer also establishes two of Oz’s key relationships. He’s taking care of his mentally ill mother, Francis Cobb (Deirdre O’Connell), while also mentoring his new driver, Victor Aguilar (Rhenzy Feliz). Oz even seems to genuinely like Victor, which will put him in danger. Victor seems especially afraid of what Sophia could do to them.

Michael Kelly also stars in the series as Johnny Vitti, alongside Shohreh Aghdashloo as Nadia Maroni, Clancy Brown as Salvatore Maroni, James Madio as Milos Grapa, Scott Cohen as Luca Falcone, Michael Zegen as Alberto Falcone, Theo Rossi as Julian Rush, and Carmen Ejogo as Eve Karlo.

HBO and Max will premiere The Penguin on September 19.
