Ο Λευτέρης Πετρούνιας μίλησε μετά την πρόκρισή του στον τελικό των κρίκων, δηλώνοντας ότι δεν προβλέπει να προκριθεί πρώτος λόγω της ανταγωνιστικότητας του Κινέζου αθλητή. Ωστόσο, εξέφρασε τον στόχο του για την πρώτη θέση και τόνισε ότι είναι ψυχολογικά και σωματικά καλά προετοιμασμένος. Αναφέρθηκε στον σεβασμό που έχει για τον ανταγωνισμό και την αξία του ως αθλητής, καθώς επίσης τόνισε τη στήριξη που λαμβάνει από το ελληνικό κοινό. Εξέφρασε την απόλαυση που αποκομίζει από τον αθλητισμό και τονίζοντας ότι είναι έτοιμος να δώσει τον καλύτερό του εαυτό στον τελικό. Με χαρά και αισιοδοξία προέβλεψε ότι οι επόμενες μέρες θα είναι γεμάτες επιτυχίες και χαμόγελα.
