Immigration detainees continue to be freed into the community almost nine months after the High Court’s bombshell ruling, figures reveal, as speculation intensifies the two ministers who presided over the botched response will be shifted to new roles.

The number of immigration detainees released on bridging visas in the fallout from the NZYQ ruling jumped to 178 as of June 30, up 18 from just one month earlier.
