Η Ουκρανία, μετά από μήνες διαπραγματεύσεων, κατάφερε να αποφύγει μια χρεωκοπία, καθώς επέτυχε μια προκαταρκτική συμφωνία με τους πιστωτές της, όπως η BlackRock και η Pimco. Η συμφωνία αυτή είναι για την αναδιάρθρωση του χρέους της Ουκρανίας άνω των 20 δισ. δολαρίων, με τους πιστωτές να κουρεύσουν κατά 37% του ονομαστικού χρέους τους. Οι επενδυτές θα ανταλλάξουν τα παλιά ομόλογά τους με καινούργια με μικρότερα επιτόκια και μεγαλύτερες ημερομηνίες λήξης. Αυτή η συμφωνία θα εξοικονομήσει σημαντικά ποσά για την Ουκρανία τα επόμενα χρόνια και θα υποστηρίξει τις προσπάθειές της στη χρηματοδότηση του πολέμου με τη Ρωσία. Η Ουκρανία θα ξεκινήσει πάλι τις πληρωμές τόκων στους κατόχους ομολόγων τον Φεβρουάριο, με τον στόχο την επαναφορά της χώρας στα προπολεμικά επίπεδα.
