Boart Longyear cops $385,000 fine after worker’s head pinned to rig at West Musgrave nickel site

Big-name WA drilling contractor Boart Longyear has been slapped with a fine of almost $400,000 after a worker suffered a broken jaw when his head was crushed against a drill rig at the West Musgrave nickel project.

WorkSafe said the driller’s assistant was part of a team at an exploration camp that was carrying out maintenance to a reverse circulation drill rig at the development in the remote northern Goldfields in early 2021.
