Shark warning: Alarm as whale carcass off Binningup Beach could attract predators

A shark warning has been issued for a beach in WA’s south-west after a whale carcass was spotted floating off the coast.

Surfers, swimmers, fishers and other water users at Binningup Beach on West Coast Drive in Binningup in the Harvey Shire are being told to take extra care, with the carcass possibly attracting sharks close to shore.

The carcass was seen by a member of the public about 11.15am on Friday.

It is the second shark waning from the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development in just over 24 hours, with an alert issued for South Cottesloe Beach on Thursday.
