More than 100,000 Toyota Tundra, Lexus LX engines to be replaced

The US divisions of Toyota and its luxury arm Lexus will replace the V6 engines of more than 100,000 vehicles due to a fault which could cause a complete loss of power.

If the debris circulates through the engine, it can lead to knocking, rough running and even a loss of power at any speed.

Toyota and Lexus have now announced they will replace the engines of 102,092 vehicles in the US, which covers 98,568 Tundras and 3524 LX 600s, both produced between the 2022 and 2023 model years.

According to Toyota’s US recall notice – filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration – the car giant has so far received 824 warranty claims and completed 166 field technical reports based on the failures.

The fault only affects non-hybrid versions of the engine, meaning the ***********-delivered hybrid-only Toyota Tundra is unaffected.

However, it’s not yet known whether the Lexus LX engine replacements will also take place in Australia.
