Anxiety Aunt: How do I get over a long-term friendship after being dumped for no apparent reason?

Dear Aunty,

Do you think friendships have a “season”? The reason I ask is because my neighbour who I had been very friendly with for 20 years (give or take the years she spent overseas) “dropped” me as her friend via social media two years ago and it still bothers me. I thought we were good friends but it appears that she had gone through some lifestyle changes and decided to rid herself of anyone who didn’t fit into her “new” circle of awareness. I am still friendly with her family in person and online but just never see or hear from her at all. We used to have some good times together and shared a lot. At the time I was sad about the way the friendship ended so abruptly. I only realised the friendship had ended when I got a strange text from her out of the blue offering me her hand of friendship which I naturally ignored. Anyone who needs friends when it suits them, is no friend to me.
