St Joseph’s ********* Primary School to go all in on support for home grown hero Kyle Lee

The St Joseph’s ********* Primary School community is set to go all in on their support of Australind-raised Olympic swimmer Kyle Lee during his upcoming efforts in Paris.

The Withers school — of which Lee’s mother Lara is a staff member — will be donning the green and gold for a day of celebrations dubbed the Cheer for Kyle Day.

Students and staff are being encouraged to match their clothes, hair and face paint to the theme in either green and gold or the Indigenous colours.

The day will involve creating video messages of support for Lee as he prepares for his 10km marathon swimming event on August 9.

St Joseph’s ********* Primary School principal Annette Quirk said there was a lot of excitement brewing around Lee’s efforts.

“We’re very excited, his mother is a bursar at our school and we’ve been excitedly watching him go through national competitions,” she said.

“Making the Olympic team was just such a wonderful moment to be involved in as a school community and to support the family.

“He’s such a lovely, humble young man and we just think the world of him and his family and we just want to show our care and support for him.”

Lee is set to compete for Australia in his first Olympic Games after he missed qualification for the Tokyo Games by an agonising 12 seconds.

Earlier this year Lee took ninth place at the Aquatics World Championships in Doha, securing his ticket to Paris.

Mrs Quirk said the entire St Joseph’s community was behind Lee.

“All the school community are cheering him madly from back in Australia, we wish him all the best and we know all of his hard work and determination will pay off and we couldn’t be more proud,” she said.
