NSW Police called to Lawrence after truck enters Clarence River

A truck has reportedly entered the Clarence River on the Far North Coast, forcing the ferry to close.

Emergency crews were called after initial reports suggested the truck entered the water while crossing the Clarence River at Lawrence north of Grafton about 10.30am on Wednesday.

The Bluff Point Ferry between Merton St and Lawrence and Woodford Dale Rds ******** closed in both directions during the NSW Police operation.

Drivers are being encouraged to seek an alternative route by using Big River Way and Lawrence Rd to cross the Clarence River through Grafton.

Transport NSW warned motorists should also allow extra travel time.

Local buses are also running between Lawrence and Grafton instead of between Lawrence and Maclean while the ferry is not running.
