Five-time Perth Wildcats championship-winning coach Trevor Gleeson lands new head coaching role

Five-time Perth Wildcats championship-winning coach Trevor Gleeson has landed a new head coaching role.

Gleeson, who most recently worked as an assistant for the Milwaukee Bucks, has been unveiled as the new coach of ********* club Chiba Jets.

The Jets are in the second division of ********* basketball and are co-captained by former Perth Wildcats forward John Mooney.

Gleeson, who was in charge of the Wildcats from 2013 to 2021, and has also coached Brisbane, Melbourne, Townsville and in South Korea, had been working with the Toronto Raptors before coach Nic Nurse was sacked and he moved to Milwaukee.

The Jets finished eighth in the B-League standings last season.

“I am extremely happy to be joining a well-known club like Chiba Jets,” Gleeson said in a translated statement.

“I want to make this season the most successful time in Chiba’s history.

“I am excited to get started and meet my new team, our players and our passionate fans.”

Gleeson was a popular contributor to The West ***********’s The Dribble podcast last year between stints in the ******* States. He also coached at this year’s All Star game as part of the Eastern conference’s staff representing the Bucks.
