Reused Assets or a Little Nod to the Past? The Last of Us Part 2 Has Yet Another Uncharted 4 Easter Egg Everyone Missed at First

Over four years after its release, players continue to find new hidden references in this title. In a recent post on X, a player discovered an Uncharted 4 reference in The Last of Us Part 2

The reference shows a ship seen near the end of Naughty Dog’s game, which also appears in the museum level of the game starring Ellie. Until now, no fan had discovered this reference, demonstrating how the studio continues to surprise its community years later.

The Last of Us Part 2 Has a Reference to Uncharted 4

The Last of Us Part 2 was released in 2020 as one of the most controversial games of recent years. It won the Game of the Year award and became one of the best titles of the decade.

Developed by Naughty Dog and directed by Neil Druckmann, this gaming experience completely breaks the player’s expectations and takes them on a journey few other titles dare to make. The PS5 received a remastered version this year.

In a recent post on X, a user uncovered a reference the studio had incorporated into the game, which no one had previously noticed. One of the ships seen in Uncharted 4 appears as a reference in a museum within the 2020 game’s levels.

Users quickly commented, completely surprised that they had never understood this reference, despite it being quite noticeable in the level.

Users continued to comment, praising the development team behind the game for making this Uncharted 4 reference in The Last of Us Part 2.

Despite being two diametrically opposed titles in terms of story and gameplay, these references are a common detail for a studio that handles several franchises, such as Naughty Dog. Fans were thrilled to realize there was still much to discover.

Some players believe that this isn’t a reference, but rather an asset that the same studio has reused for another title, a possibility that could easily occur.

However, many fans doubt this theory due to the studio’s attention to detail in its various games regarding level design and general mechanics. Regardless, players are pleased to discover these kinds of details in their favorite games.

Currently, the studio is working on a new IP unrelated to its previous franchises. Many fans of this studio are eagerly anticipating the announcement of this new title next year, particularly in light of Sony’s recent statements about 2025 and its upcoming games.

The bar for this particular development team is very high given the quality of games they’ve made in recent years.

What do you think of this reference? Let us know in the comments!
