A Gnowangerup publican has avoided immediate jail for throttling his partner in the pub they co-own.

Robert John Coles, 55, appeared in Albany Magistrates Court on Thursday charged with aggravated common ********, impeding another person’s normal breathing or blood circulation by applying pressure to the neck and obstructing public officers.
