Nearly Ten Years On and Hidetaka Miyazaki’s Biggest Hope for Bloodborne is Still Ringing True

Fans of gaming in general were little by little falling in love with the Dark Souls saga, but this was not all; this game generated its own sub-genre, the Soulslike. The majority of these titles were directed by the talented Hidetaka Miyazaki, a director that From Software has made a complete success of games like Elden Ring that sold more than 20 million units. 

In a recent interview, he talked about one other legendary title that he directed, Bloodborne. The game is about to turn ten years old.

Miyazaki mentioned a lot of things that Bloodborne had, like the setting or what the inspirations for the art of the game were. He even talked about the difference between developing on the PS3 and the PS4. When asked about his thoughts on the future legacy of Bloodborne, he responded, “To be frank, it all boils down to having fun. No matter what kind of legacy or reputation this title leaves a decade down the road, if the players had fun playing it, I’d be more than satisfied.”

Miyazaki has always talked about his ultimate goal being that players really have fun and could overcome the frustration of the difficulty and enjoy themselves even more to surpass a boss or level. He is really grateful for the fans’ reception of his games. He really loves to make games and will continue to do so in the upcoming years. Bloodborne was the only exclusive game that From Software released for PS4. 

At the moment, Hidetaka Miyazaki and From Software are working on the Elden Ring DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree. Miyazaki claims that this will be the studio’s largest expansion to date. This content will be available on June 21 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, and PC. The Elden Ring base game will be needed to play the DLC.
