Inside Out 2 set records tumbling, becoming highest grossing Disney Pixar film in Australia

Inside Out 2 has become the highest-grossing Disney Pixar film in Australia and just the 19th film to surpass $50 million in box office sales in the country.

The animated movie has earned $50.7 million so far in Australia, jumping over the $50.4 million held by Shrek 2 from its release back in 2004.

The movie, starring voice acting from Amy Poehler and Maya Hawke, is now the second highest-grossing animated film in Australia, only $1 million behind The Super Mario Bros. Movie.

Since its release more than a month ago, Inside Out 2 has shot to 18th in the *********** all-time grossing list.

Disney Australia managing director Kylie Watson-Wheeler said the company was proud to see so many people embracing the movie.

“We’re thrilled this Pixar animation favourite is topping charts locally and the world over,” she said.

“We love that this film strikes a powerful chord with moviegoers and is bringing the big screen to life.

“It’s been nine years since audiences first went on an emotional journey inside Riley’s head, and that’s a key reason why this film so deeply resonates with a broad audience and makes perfect viewing with family and friends.”
