Woman charged with ******* after pedestrian ‘deliberately drove at and struck’: police

A woman has been charged with ******* after she allegedly deliberately ran down and ******* a woman she knew, police said

Queensland Police allege the 23-year-old – who was known to the driver — was struck by a silver Toyota Prado about 9am on Friday while on a footpath in the Logan suburb of Daisy Hill, 24km south of Brisbane.

The woman was rushed to Brisbane’s Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition, but ***** in hospital that afternoon.

Police allege the driver was known to the pedestrian and “deliberately drove at and struck” the woman before later fleeing the scene.

Detective Inspector Chris Knight said the charge followed developments in the investigation on Friday when the ********* investigation unit became involved.

“We will allege that event was not in fact an accident and that lady who lost her life was in fact targeted by another individual,” Detective Inspector Knight said.

“The young lady who lost her life was a mother, she had dropped her daughter off at daycare.

“It is a ****** understatement to say anything other than that family is deeply traumatised.”

A 24-year-old Goodna woman was later taken into custody after officers seized a silver Prado from a home in the Ipswich suburb on Saturday.

The woman has since been charged with one count of ******* and is expected to appear before Ipswich Magistrates Court on Monday.

Police also reissued an appeal for witness to come forward, in particular the driver or passengers of a bus on Allamanda Dr that morning.
