, Ohio (WJW) — The U.S. Coast Guard went into action Saturday after receiving a MAYDAY call from a distressed boat on Lake Erie.

Three Good Samaritan boats and the Ashtabula station were called in to help. The Coast Guard was able to help rescue three people and the two animals, meanwhile the captain stayed aboard.

With the help of those on scene, the boat eventually stopped taking on water and was escorted back to Ashtabula Harbor,
