Independent repairers need to be EV-ready, says industry chief

As uptake of electric vehicles increases, peak industry body the *********** Automotive Aftermarket Association (AAAA) is urging governments to do more to ensure a consumer’s first EV purchase is not their last because of a lack of post-sales support and access to charging, service, repair and parts supply that takes into account a car’s entire life cycle requirements.

In a submission to the Commonwealth Parliamentary Inquiry on Electric Vehicle Transition, AAAA chief Stuart Charity highlighted key issues facing independent service and repair workshops, including skills shortages and training availability, as well as their crucial role in maintaining the majority of private and fleet vehicles across the country.
