Police were called to the 500 block of Custer Place in Canton around 7:52 a.m. Thursday morning on a report that 2-year-old Chloe Russell was missing. Russell was said to have been missing since around 6:30 a.m. Thursday.

and the FBI engaged in an hours-long search for Russell that included the use of thermal imaging technology, police dogs, airplanes and drones.

None of them were effective in finding Russell however as it turns out the 2-year-old was in an upstairs closet of her home. She was taken to a local hospital and found to be in good health.

“The main thing here is that Chloe was found safely and is in good health,” Canton Police Chief Mike Eveland said in a news release.

When police first arrived at the home Thursday morning, they searched the house along with Chloe’s family and were unable to locate her. Later, members of the Canton ***** Department used thermal imaging technology in the home to try and locate the girl, also to no avail.

Police expanded the search to include the surrounding area and brought in other agencies and a trove of technology and resources to search for the 2-year-old. Early Thursday evening, ****** scene technicians from the Illinois State Police searched the home and found Russell in an upstairs closet.
