World War I-era rail ticket a poignant reminder of lives lost in the heat of battle for our freedoms

It might be one small piece in a large collection of priceless artefacts, but a Perth to Fremantle railway ticket issued in 1915 is a personal favourite of *********** War Memorial director Matt Anderson.

The ticket survived almost 100 years ******* in a mass grave of 250 *********** soldiers in Fromelles, in northern France, where the first major battle on the Western Front was fought by *********** troops on July 19, 1916.
