Developer A44 Games has brought us a fast-paced action RPG that borrows some of the best elements from FromSoftware titles and adds new elements to keep the experience interesting. As with any RPG, leveling up is going to be the best way to get stronger. While the Soulsborne games allow you to level up via attributes, Flintlock offers specific skills that can help you on your journey. Below are five skills that you should get as early as possible to deal with any threats! 5. Avoid Ranged Damage with Deflection data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///ywAAAAAAQABAAACAUwAOw==Don’t let enemies in Flintlock take you down from afar. | Credits: Steam Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn will have enemies targeting you from every angle possible, and it’s your job to keep yourself safe. Sure, you can achieve this by dodging, but sometimes it’s easier to simply parry away projectiles. This Path of Steel skill can be purchased for 3,750 Reputation and ensures you aren’t constantly sniped at. All you need to do is work on your timing to make sure your parry skills are up to snuff. As with other parry mechanics, you need to make sure to tap the L1 or LB button the moment the ******* is going to land. 4. Flintlock’s Charged Shot Increases Reputation Gain data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///ywAAAAAAQABAAACAUwAOw==You only need one shot to take down fodder with this skill. | Credits: Steam Are regular mobs starting to annoy you? Wishing you could deal with them quickly and just keep pushing? Weaker enemies can get annoying, especially when there are ******* fish to fry. Well, the Charged Shot skill is what you need. This Path of Powder skill can take down enemies with a single shot and allows for a unique experience that even Miyazaki could not create in Elden Ring. It costs 2,500 Reputation, and this may seem like a lot for a simple charged *******, but you can make it back easily once you start mowing down enemies with this skill. 3. Create ******* Opportunities with Taunt data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///ywAAAAAAQABAAACAUwAOw==Your magical companion can distract your opponents in battle. | Credits: Steam While much of the damage will come from you, your companion, Enki, can lend a hand in a variety of ways. Dealing with hordes of enemies in Souls-likes can get frustrating at times, so early on, the best thing to do is have it distract your enemies with the Taunt skill for a quick few hits. This Path of Magic skill requires 3,750 Reputation to unlock and works passively, allowing you to reap its rewards without pressing another button. As soon as you enter combat, Enki will try and grab an ******’s attention, giving you a window of opportunity to slide in and land some hits. These enemies won’t stay distracted for too long, so make these moments count. 2. Apply Pressure with Dodge ******* data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///ywAAAAAAQABAAACAUwAOw==Why simply dodge when you can dodge and deal damage at the same time? | Credits: Steam No matter what build you go for, dodging is going to be an integral skill to hone in the game. Much like how Bloodborne’s combat changed the way FromSoftware approached engagements, the Dodge ******* skill allows you to keep dealing damage while avoiding any yourself. Part of the Path of Steel tree, this evasive damage-dealing move can be acquired for 2,500 Reputation in Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn. Staying alive in the game requires you to stay mobile, so learning how to ******* while dodging can massively boost your DPS. The best part is that this works with both a regular Dodge and a Powder Dodge! 1. Juggle Enemies with Enki’s Rend Spirit data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///ywAAAAAAQABAAACAUwAOw==Enki does more than just look cute in the game. | Credits: Steam Not many FromSoftware titles allow players to deal repeated damage to enemies suspended in the air, but Flintlock does so with the help of your magical companion! Rend Spirit, found in the Path of Magic tree for 2,500 Reputation, uses Enki’s power to hold enemies in midair on command. While suspended, enemies can be attacked relentlessly, allowing you to deal a significant amount of damage. Pair this with some other more advanced skills, and even challenging threats can be taken down with ease. The skill also helps to build Enki’s Withering Gauge.
