Man shot ***** in Kirkby

A man has been shot ***** on a street in the Kirkby suburb of Liverpool, police say.

Merseyside Police said a ******* investigation was under way after the 36-year-old was shot on Quarryside Drive on Wednesday evening.

The victim – who has not yet been named – was rushed to hospital but pronounced ***** a short time later, police said.

Police said the family had been informed and would be supported by specialist family liaison officers.

The ********* happened on Quarryside Drive at around 18:35, the force said.

Extensive CCTV enquiries are under way in the area and house-to-house inquiries are taking place. Forensic examinations are also being carried out at the scene of the ******.

Det Supt Drew called on the public to contact police if they witnessed the *******, and asked people to check their CCTV, dashcam devices or doorbell footage for anything suspicious.

“There is no room for guns on the streets of Merseyside and we will do everything within our power to ensure those responsible are brought to justice,” he said.

“My message to those involved in **** ****** and serious organised ****** is clear – Merseyside Police will never rest, we are relentless in our pursuit of those involved.”
