North Myrtle Beach police pursuing charges against man accused of bringing 15-year-old Indiana girl to Horry County

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — North Myrtle Beach police are pursuing charges against a man accused of going to the home of a 15-year-old girl in Indiana in June and bringing her to Horry County.

A June 20 North Myrtle Beach police report obtained over the weekend by News13 indicated that authorities plan to seek an arrest warrant for Brandon O’Hara, 29, charging him with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Police initially made contact with O’Hara on June 20 at HOTO’s bar and grill when they went there to try to find the girl, who had been reported missing in Indiana. When officers talked to O’Hara, the report said he told them he had been communicating with the girl for about three months via Snapchat.

He also told officers that he had gone to Indiana to bring her back to South Carolina, the report said. He said they had been dating for about three months. He said they had been intimate and that the girl had shown him a birth certificate indicating that she was 19 years old.

One of the girl’s family members told News13 on Friday that the girl had believed that O’Hara was a 17-year-old.

After talking to O’Hara at the bar, the report said officers found the girl in the area of 2nd Avenue South. She told them she was dizzy and hungry, so she was taken to the emergency room at North Strand hospital.

The report said also the girl gave the officer a fake name and refused to provide any information about O’Hara. The report said authorities interviewed the girl later during a hearing at the Horry County courthouse and that she “******* to disclose any ******* contact with Mr. O’Hara.”

According to the police report, O’Hara left Horry County on June 18 and drove to Bloomfield, Indiana, where he picked up the girl at about 1 a.m. on June 19. He “did not go inside or meet any other people at the residence” and he and the girl arrived back in Horry County at about 6 p.m.

O’Hara told officers that he was homeless and that they two had stayed at the Quail Inn and Suites, the report said. He also said the girl rode to work with him that day and that she was supposed to stay on the beach until the end of his shift at 11 p.m.
