Valorant Confirms 1 Game Mode is Going to Be Cut with the Latest Patch, and the Poor Reception May Make Riot Think Twice

One of Valorant‘s most popular game modes is getting disabled thanks to issues with an upcoming patch, and the fan reception is far from good.

The severity of the reaction might warrant Riot Games completely skipping the upcoming patch to keep it in, as people are using the opportunity to bring up another fan-favorite game mode that was silently removed, never to return.

According to an official announcement from Valorant‘s X/

account, Escalation is getting the boot in Patch 9.01. This goes live on 16 July 2024, just around the corner from the console release.

The 5v5 team deathmatch mode might be one of the most popular ones. You get to play as a random agent while cycling through many different weapons and abilities.

Not only does it test your ability to work with your teammates, but it’s also a great way of getting some practice in for all the different weapons and agents in the game.

That’s going to have to be put on hold for now, unfortunately. There appears to be some issue that clashes with the upcoming patch, but thankfully it’s set to return very soon.

However, it hasn’t managed to soften the ***** much with people who enjoyed this mode. Some players aren’t handling it well.

Everyone has different feelings about Escalation, but to some, it was their favorite.

There Are More Pressing Issues Than Escalation’s Removal

Escalation getting removed has hurt a lot of people, no doubt. But for some, this is the perfect opportunity they’ve been waiting for.

If you remember Valorant‘s Replication mode, you’re entitled to a Veteran’s discount. Replication was a best-of-nine Plant and Defuse mode that was in the game as far back as 2021, in patch 2.09.

For unknown reasons, it was yanked from players’ hands and removed from the game entirely in patch 7.0, in 2023. Since then, people have been waiting for it to return, but to no avail.

It’s not just a few people begging for Replication to be added to the game again.

This seems like a popular opinion in the community, although, it’s hard to gauge if it was this loved when it was actually in the game. Then again, sometimes, you never really know how much you love something until it’s gone.

Valorant players have also been making noise around this issue, ever since it was silently removed. The fact that Riot Games had nothing to say about it certainly stung.

With how long it’s been since any news regarding Replication came out, it might just stay gone forever.

Were you a fan of Replication or Escalation? On the contrary, are there any game modes that you’d like to see nuked from the game? Let us know in the comments below!
