Two swimmers missing at Millaa Millaa Falls in Far North Queensland after failing to resurface from the water

A major search and rescue operation is under way in Far North Queensland after two male swimmers disappeared at a popular waterfall.

A rescue helicopter and ambulance crews were sent to Millaa Millaa Falls in the Cairns Tablelands about 8.50am on Tuesday following reports two men had ******* to resurface from the water.

Queensland Ambulance clinical operations director Chris Draper said three men in their 20s jumped off the falls but only one resurfaced.

He said there were “some accessibility issues” facing rescue crews but noted there were roads into the waterfall.

A Queensland ambulance spokeswoman said paramedics assisted in the search and rescue operation but were stood down about 12.15pm.

Millaa Millaa Falls is a heritage-listed waterfall about 18.3m high.
