Brisbane forward Charlie Cameron has been whacked with a three-match ban for a tackle that left West Coast co-captain Liam Duggan concussed.

It comes as interim Eagles coach Jarrad Schofield confirmed the front-on tackle that ploughed the back of Duggan’s head into the Optus Stadium turf on Sunday had left the defender facing a minimum of a week out of the game through concussion protocols.

And while there was no free kick paid at the time, post-match scrutiny saw the tackle labelled as careless conduct, severe impact and high contact on Monday.

The Lions forward escaped a one-match ban for a dangerous tackle earlier this season on a “good guy” defence with the club to weigh up another trip to the Tribunal.

Losing Duggan for at least a week leaves a significant ***** in the Eagles defence that is already missing Jeremy McGovern, who fractured his ribs and punctured a lung in the MCG clash with Melbourne.

However, Schofield has already thrown the magnets around in his first game in charge, with second-year bull Reuben Ginbey successfully returning to his roots on the half-back line.

“Reuben came through as a half-back flanker in his East Perth days, and we thought it was a good opportunity to free him up and get some run off half-back,” he told 7NEWS.

“Oscar Allen (also) went back to stem the momentum for us in parts of the game, so it’s just a couple of things but without unsettling the team too much.”

Schofield was also pleased by the performances of his young additions to the 22, especially Zane Trew, who has been one of the Eagles’ best at WAFL level.

“His form throughout this season in the WAFL has been really solid, and he’s been the most consistent out of all our midfielders that have been playing WAFL,” he said.

“We brought him into the side and we’ve given him confidence to really go after his game and focus on his one wood. He’s so clean and strong in the contest, and he had a great opportunity yesterday to line himself against Lachie Neale and learn on the job.

“While it wasn’t a perfect game, it was a step in the right direction for him.”

Trew collected 21 disposals and five clearances running with the Brownlow medallist.

West Coast are also sweating on the health of forward Tyler Brockman, who has returned to the side after being fined for driving into a light pole in Geraldton.

The former Hawk, who returned to WA via trade during the off-season, injured his ankle in the third term of the defeat to the Lions after being subbed on in the first half for Duggan.

Schofield confirmed the club would wait on the 21-year-old’s scans before releasing any information.
