Cable Beach and Broome Towns keep undefeated streak intact after round 12

One-sided matches dominated round 12 of the women’s West Kimberley Football League as teams clashed at the weekend with Cable Beach and the Broome Towns keeping their undefeated streaks intact.

Cable Beach defeated the Looma Eagles down on Haynes Oval on Saturday afternoon.

The Greenbacks took control of the field from the first term, kicking three goals to the Looma Eagles’ one behind, 3.0 (18) to 0.1 (1).

But the Eagles forced Cable Beach into a stalemate in the second term after scoring their first goal of the match, 3.0 (18) to 1.1 (7).

After the half time break Cable Beach pulled out all the stops, kicking another three goals to extend their lead by more than 18 points, 6.1 (37) to 1.2 (8).

Again the play went to ground, leading to another scoring stalemate which worked to the Greenbacks favour as they clung to their lead and rode out the match to take home the win, 6.4 (40) to 1.2 (8).

Cable Beach’s Katherine Dann led the scoring on two goals.

The Broome Towns dominated the Broome Saints down on Nipper Roe Oval on Friday night.

The Saints languished through the first half of the match, managing to score just one goal while the Towns kicked seven, collecting themselves a substantial lead, 7.4 (46) to 1.0 (6).

Unfortunately for the Saints the second half saw no improvement, with the side kicking just three behinds while the Towns added another three goals to their scoreline to seal the win, 11.6 (72) to 1.3 (9).

Broome Towns’ Mia Ballard led the scoring on three goals.
