Concord, the upcoming multiplayer shooter from Firewalk Studios, is getting a lot of attention thanks to the ongoing beta. While it’s inspired heavily by Overwatch, Destiny, and Valorant, it brings something fresh and unique. 

The beta has received positive reviews from players who love its vibrant and snappy gameplay. There are more than a few reasons that make the game stand out.

based on marketing, but now that I’ve gotten my hands on it… I think PlayStation has another multiplayer winner on their hands.

Extremely solid gunplay, heroes are diverse in abilities and fun to use and everything just feels “good”.

There will also be an open beta next week which will be free for all players, irrespective of whether you have a PS Plus subscription or not.

Okay so Concord absolutely rips. The gunplay feels fantastic, characters seem interesting, and it’s just a ton of fun. I’m in.

The Developers Behind Concord

Firewalk Studios, the team behind Concord, is made up of industry veterans, many of whom have worked on major titles like Destiny and Halo. This background explains the game’s polished combat mechanics and floaty feel, reminiscent of Destiny’s multiplayer. 

Firewalk Studios is under the umbrella of Sony Interactive Entertainment, and this partnership is proving to be fruitful. Sony’s support has likely provided the resources and freedom needed to develop a high-quality multiplayer experience since they also own Bungie which as provided a lot of feedback on this game.

The game is also focusing heavily on accessibility. The game aims to be welcoming to new players by offering clear tutorials, intuitive controls, and a less punishing learning curve compared to other hero shooters.

Concord’s closed beta has shown promise. The game offers a unique blend of familiar hero shooter concepts with fresh ideas. However, the true test will come when it launches to the public, as many have suggested that the game would have been better off as a free-to-play title.
