Liam Duggan: West Coast Eagles co-captain suffers head knock ***** against Brisbane Lions

West Coast co-captain Liam Duggan is set to miss next week’s clash with St Kilda after being forced from the ground against Brisbane with his second head knock in the space of five weeks.

Duggan was led from the ground early in the second quarter after taking the brunt of a front-on tackle from Lions star Charlie Cameron.

While the tackle in itself was not dangerous, it drove Duggan backwards and the back of his head hit the turf with some force.

Duggan did not appear to lose consciousness, but immediately felt for the back of his head and his discomfort was evident.

Substitute Tyler Brockman was quickly activated, with Duggan subbed off shortly afterwards.

Trainers assisted the West Coast defender as he was led from the ground, in a ***** to the Eagles already missing one experienced defender in Jeremy McGovern.

It is the second head injury Duggan has suffered in little more than a month, after missing time earlier this season following a collision with teammate Jack Hutchinson in round 14.

Duggan suffered a concussion and a mouth injury on that occasion, and said in the aftermath he did not remember much of the incident.

“There was a little ******* there that is a bit ‘control-alt-delete’ – I don’t remember much until I was back in the change rooms,” he said on Triple M.

“It’s not that scary for me at the time, but certainly a scary moment for the family and (my fiance) Lauren.”

“Once I got back down to the rooms, I started to piece it together. I spent a bit of time on the bed getting my lip stitched up which gave me time to get with it again.”
