Donald Trump ********* a 20-year-old man from Pennsylvania, FBI says

The FBI has confirmed the man who tried to ***** Donald Trump is a 20-year-old man with authorities working to confirm his identity after ********* him ***** on a roof near the rally.

The 20-year-old man, who local media is reporting is from nearby Bethel Park in Pennsylvania, was ******* shortly after ******* a number of shots at Mr Trump.

One of the bullets grazed Mr Trump’s ear before Secret Service swarmed the former president and rushed him to a waiting car.

Police sources said the shooter was on the roof of a manufacturing plant before he was ******* by Secret Service snipers. An AR-style rifle was later recovered from the scene.

Speaking to media from Butler, Pennsylvania, FBI Pittsburgh special agent in charge Kevin Rojak said while the bureau was yet to formally identify the shooter or his motives, they were prepared to call it an attempt to ************ Mr Trump.

While Mr Rojek said the Bureau and authorities were close to identifying who the shooter was, there would not be more comment until they were 100 per cent confident.

Authorities had not found any identification documents on the body of the shooter, and were resorting to comparing photographs and DNA testing to prove the identity.

Mr Trump was speaking at a *********** rally in Butler, ahead of this week’s *********** National Convention, when multiple pop sounds were heard.

The former president, grabbed his ear before dropping to the ground and was swarmed by Secret Service agents.
