Natalie Portman was just 12 years old when she made her debut in the Luke Besson film Leon: The Professional. That movie came out in 1994. I remember watching it and thinking how remarkable her performance was; it was all just so effortless.

I followed her career from that point on, only loving her more when I learnt she’d opted to take a few years out to study psychology at — wait for it — Harvard University.
