The original trilogy was released at a time when cosmetic items like skins and outfits were not that popular compared to today’s standards and it is a good thing. Modern video games heavily rely on creative and shiny skins to attract the gaming community as a crutch. Fortunately, Santa Monica Studio did not need to use that to gain any attention. While Kratos did have unlockable outfits, none of them would be used in the Norse Saga. The Ridiculous Wardrobe of Kratos Would Not Fit in the Modern Iterations of **** of War Kratos would not allow to be caught ***** wearing ridiculous suits from the older games. Iconic items from earlier in the series like weapons often wound up being used in moments of crisis, like the Blades of Chaos haunting Kratos of his past, and ended up being a useful asset. Players thought it would be funny if modern Kratos still had access to his old wardrobe. Most of these were random outfits that had no connection with the lore. Fortunately, none of them are canon, which is the fun bit. For players, slaying enemies dressed as a fisherman or a chef could break the immersion and make the experience more unique. Santa Monica Studio Went Overboard With These Unique **** of War Costume Designs Kratos reflected on his past and realized these outfits wouldn’t fit him today. Image Credit: Santa Monica Studio Designing outfits and cosmetics can unleash an artist’s inner creativity. However, it can also deviate too far to a point it is no longer recognizable. Santa Monica Studio made a wise choice to let this idea go to rest and work on more appealing options. Times are changing and not everything that worked in the past will work today. The gaming community would not stop trolling the developers from reusing an outdated idea. The new armor sets are a much more viable option for a wardrobe change and each of these pieces feature unique benefits and perks, not just aesthetics. Kratos can now take advantage of these perks while looking good. Santa Monica Studio had fun years ago and decided to up its game with character design and delivered big time. Perhaps future entries will have unique and relevant cosmetic options. Would you like to see Kratos wearing classic **** of War skins today? Let us know in the comments section below!
