The First Descendant Fans Have Already Grown Tired of the Near-Exploitative Skin and Dye System

The First Descendant, a third-person action game primarily centered around looter shooter mechanics, made its debut at the end of last month. Developed by the South Korean studio Nexon, this particular title aimed to seemingly compete with the popular Destiny 2. 

The game features various characters with their own abilities, which include firearms. Beyond this, players already have their first complaints about the game’s microtransaction system. It appears to be too aggressive, and to change your skin ******, you must pay, unlike in Warframe.

The First Descendant has received a positive response in terms of gameplay, with a more than decent launch for a new game. The title itself is free to play, so any player can download it to try out its different mechanics and see if they like this type of gameplay.

However, many players are already complaining about the initial aspects of the game, especially its aggressive microtransactions.

Certain colors are hidden behind a paywall, preventing users from accessing them, and everyone ends up with the same ******. This makes no sense with certain skins that almost every player has.

The discussion continued with several users saying that they should adopt Warframe’s system, which allows players to change the colors of their skins at will without charging for specific colors.

The primary focus of this complaint is the default skins, which, being the basic ones, should not be subject to any limitations. According to numerous players, these types of limitations were not present in the beta; these changes were made at the last minute.

This Nexon game, at least on Steam, has a fairly decent number of concurrent players, surpassing 100,000 per day. The First Descendant has a lot of potential for continued growth, but the studio should reconsider how it handles its microtransactions to prevent players from leaving the game for this simple reason.

We’ll have to wait and see if the studio responds to these criticisms and if it makes any changes.
