Ubisoft and XDefiant Producer Mark Rubin Assures Fans It’s Okay to Leave the Game if They Can’t Stomach the Bugs

XDefiant is a free-to-play FPS shooter developed by Ubisoft that debuted on May 21, 2024. The game brings exciting, fast-paced online multiplayer games where people choose from various factions inspired by Ubisoft’s legendary franchises, such as Far Cry, Watch Dogs, and Tom Clancy.

Ever since its release, the gaming community has constantly accused XDefiant of being rushed due to its massive amount of bugs and gameplay issues. However, the game’s producer, Mark Rubin, has defended the title against those claims and explained why it’s facing so many problems.

On June 6, XDefiant‘s season 1 finally rolled in after rumors of another delay. Players hoped that Ubisoft would fix the major issues of the game. Unfortunately, the game was still a buggy mess, which led to community outrage.

Right from stuttering to ability disbalances, gamers had plenty of complaints, and they made sure they were all heard. Few gamers felt like the game had been “rushed out,” but Mark Rubin felt otherwise.

Rubin explains that XDefiant is being developed on an engine that was initially created for an MMO, not an FPS game. Due to this, they had to create FPS aspects from scratch, which has proven to be quite tricky and time-consuming for the developers, leading to various in-game bugs.

If you like what we are trying to do stick around and you’ll see things improve and new features get added. But if the game isn’t for you, that’s ok you can move on.”

The developers encourage gamers who appreciate their efforts to stay and witness the improvements but understand if some people choose to move on.

While some fans find his explanation convincing, others are still skeptical. According to players, XDefiant has been postponed multiple times to address any issues, and it’s illogical for them to use an outdated engine.

Others have called out the publisher’s poor management and called the game “mediocre” at best.

Some have appreciated Rubin’s honesty, and transparency with the game’s development struggles. They hope to see more crucial features added to the game with future updates.

It’s going to be crucial to see how Ubisoft resolves existing bugs in XDefiant, especially in the Ranked Mode. Hopefully, the community will get a major update from Rubin soon.

Ubisoft Will Fix the Spiderbot Issues in XDefiant With Next Update

XDefiant‘s Season 1 brought a new Clubhouse map on the first day of the season alongside new modes, weapons, several bug fixes, and gameplay adjustments. However, Ubisoft made significant changes to the Spiderbot ability, which made it more difficult for players on the receiving end to counter it.

Players discovered that Spiderbots can no longer be manually shot off a player’s face unless a teammate shoots the Spiderbot off them. The change wasn’t found in the patch notes, and players weren’t particularly thrilled about it online.

However, Rubin has confirmed that with the next non-emergency update patch, they will fix this issue. It seems like developers are actively listening to their player base and continuously working behind the scenes to fix every problem as soon as possible. Let’s hope they continue with this trend for their upcoming games as well.
