Activision Blizzard Took Away the 1 Call of Duty Remaster Everyone So Desperately Wanted

While the remastered version of 2009’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 may not have been universally acclaimed, it could’ve been with the inclusion of multiplayer mode. It is a long-running debate where fans still mourn its demise. Beenox was said to have developed the mode.

Fans believe it was Activision who called the shots for Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered, as it was released with a campaign only. A fan recently came up with his own theory as to why they were deprived of the multiplayer mode in the first place.

Even after four years of its release, fans are wondering why they were ‘robbed‘ of the multiplayer mode in Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered. The visually enhanced version of the original game was indeed a fun experience, but the inclusion of multiplayer might’ve upped its game.

A user named Nocturnal on social media platform X (formerly

) jogged the memories of fans to the missing mode in the game. Interestingly, he came up with a theory that might make sense to them.

This fan called Jack thinks the company should still release multiplayer and spec ops for the remastered game. Given that the fans don’t really like the current state of Call of Duty, Activision should give it some thought.

Another fan who read Nocturnal’s theory wasn’t happy with the decision explained in it. However, he did understand the reason behind some.

As the company didn’t seem to be into multiplayer mode, some modders got up to get the job done unofficially.

Without a shadow of a doubt, Modern Warfare 2 fans’ hopes for a multiplayer mode are still well and alive.

It would be safe to say that despite the fact that the mode never saw the light of day, it certainly has gotten a cult following in a way.

A supporter of the Call of Duty mode, namely Shawn B, even started a

to bring the mode into the game. 20,657 users have signed it at the time of writing. The description notes that the mode is in files. It says,

it’s a waste of developers hard work making it and a slap in the face to everyone who has wanted this game remastered for the last few years.

Though it never got a multiplayer mode, the remastered version of its prequel did include it. To this date, everyone has left wondering where that missing portion of the game might have been. Maybe Activision will hear the fans and bring it to them some day.
