Overwatch 2 players are in for a shock with the latest news. Prime Gaming is discontinuing its rewards program for the game.

Currently, neither Overwatch nor Prime Gaming have made any official comments about this decision, leaving players completely confused and shocked. To make matters worse, Overwatch isn’t the only game affected.

account dedicated to sharing news about the game, posted that Prime Gaming has decided not to renew several of its promotions, including the one it had with Overwatch.

This came out of the blue completely, as there was no indication before that the contract wouldn’t be renewed.

Neither Blizzard nor Prime Gaming made a public announcement about this, but the game isn’t seen on the site anymore.

For many players, Prime Gaming rewards were a great perk. For Overwatch 2, you could get free in-game items such as sprays, skins, and even some tier skips for the battle pass, just by being a Prime subscriber.

With no warning given about this program ending, no wonder people are upset.

One reply under the post commented about how the end of this contract meant that the company had lost ****** in Overwatch.

However, a little bit of digging shows that it’s not just this game that was affected. There’s something ******* going on in the background.

Prime Gaming Also Ends Its Contract With Riot Games

The plot thickened when Riot Games revealed that Prime Gaming Rewards would also be discontinuing its program for its games, including Valorant and League of Legends.

Even these massively popular titles wouldn’t be giving out free rewards through Prime Gaming anymore. This was announced back in 2023 and ended in March 2024.

People were confused then, and they’re just as confused now, especially as there’s still no formal announcement made about it.

Prime Gaming has a history of offering free games to subscribers, and could be that its parent company is redirecting its focus toward this aspect of its service.

For example, around the release of the Fallout TV show, Prime Gaming provided free copies of different Fallout games to its subscribers. This could just be the start of some ******* program.

Even if this were the case, it is quite odd that nothing has been mentioned to the subscribers. As seen earlier, some people solely subscribed to Prime for its free rewards. If they had known earlier, they could’ve canceled.
