Activision Blizzard Should Use ****** Ops 6 as a Tester to See How the Fans React to Losing 1 Hated Mechanic

There’s no doubt that upcoming Call of Duty title ****** Ops 6 is one of the most anticipated titles of the year. From its early looks, Treyarch has fully leaned into revolutionizing the experience with new movement features, game mechanics, and weapons.

The focus point of recent Call of Duty games has always been the multiplayer experience. However, the upcoming game might be the perfect testing ground for Activision and Treyarch to see what happens when they get rid of one of the most hated multiplayer matchmaking features in the series.

One of the core issues that’s been plaguing the Call of Duty franchise for years is skill-based matchmaking (SBMM). It’s been negatively impacting the franchise for longer than anyone could’ve guessed and has often been criticized for giving rise to sweats, who ruin the experience for casual players.

With the game on the horizon, gamers are hyped to see what Activision has been cooking in the oven for years. While it’s great to see we’re finally getting a full-fledged campaign, players on

Activision and Treyarch are trying to deliver a genre-defining multiplayer experience yet again. However, some gamers are skeptical about it due to the fact it will feature SBMM, which will make the game dreadful and dull after just a few weeks.

In theory, skill-based matchmaking in these titles is meant to prevent players of low skill from getting obliterated by veterans. It’s not inherently wrong by any means when implemented right; it makes the game fair. The problem is that Activision has ******* to implement it in recent games in the franchise, which has been a source of frustration among gamers.

Perhaps, ****** Ops 6 could be the right game for Activision to test and see the community’s reaction to seeing it getting removed. They could introduce a special mode without the feature or even experiment with dynamic matchmaking, which has proven to be successful in other online games.

Does ****** Ops 6 Need Skill-Based Matchmaking?

Call of Duty‘s SBMM has been criticized for years and for good reasons. It’s pretty common to still end up in mismatched lobbies despite the feature actively working. Playing even just one afternoon of a game will result in at least a dozen matches with one side completely outgunned.

Some gamers feel that it unfairly punishes them for average performances. One good match will cause their MMR to surge, placing them into much ******* games for a brief *******.

This is a common issue with all games featuring skill-based matchmaking in general, and this franchise is no exception. Players feel that skill-based matchmaking is not needed and that it should be left entirely up to chance.

The idea behind this approach is that the multiplayer games will be ten times better if the teams aren’t matched 100% of the time, eliminating the need to try hard against equally matched enemies all the time.
