How to Emote in The First Descendant

The First Descendant has a fun and unique emote system that you can use when playing with other players online and are too tired to communicate through typing or the in-game voice channel. Sending a hearty hello or a point can say a lot to another player already, and here’s how you can use emotes in the First Descendant.

To use emotes, press L or left on the D-pad to open up the emote wheel. There are some default emotes and sprays here; you can only equip eight at a time. Pressing L is a bit difficult because it is far from your typical keys, especially for an FPS game so that you can adjust it in the options. Maybe some of the F1 or F2 keys should do the trick.

Players are usually focused on doing objectives or finishing the missions, but if you happen to enjoy playing with someone on a mission, you can send them a greeting emote, and they might stop and emote back to you. You can approach them and invite them to a party afterward! Things are easier when you are playing with other players.

To customize your emotes, open up your menu screen, where you have your inventory, Battle Pass, and Shop, and go to the “Customize” tab. Look for the “Emotes” section and select it. You’ll see all your unlocked emotes and spray here.

If you have many of them, you can use the filter system to look for only sprays or emotes. Tap on one of the sections of the emote wheel and select a designated emote or spray to apply to that function. The Battle Passes have several unlockable emotes. They also give you some Caliber back and other skins. You’ll also get some boosts, which makes the Battle Pass worth it if you can finish it. Some players might even consider these pay-to-win mechanics, but it is quite mild, especially for a free-to-play game.
