FromSoft’s Nonsensical Suggestion to Help with Elden Ring Frame Rates is Being Destroyed

FromSoftware’s latest patch for Elden Ring has left players scratching their heads with some of its suggested fixes for performance issues. After the release of the Shadow of The Erdtree DLC, players had issues with FPS drops and stutters in the Land of Shadows.

The first patch since the DLC’s release supposedly includes some tips for better performance. It suggests players use the “Rebuild Database” function, a feature unrelated to gameplay performance. Players are not too happy with this advice, as it seems like instead of fixing the actual problem, they’re just giving fake advice.

Lance McDonald, a streamer, took to X to express his disbelief. He compared the

to the often-futile advice given by ISPs to delete cookies to improve internet speed.

McDonald clarified that the “Rebuild Database” function merely helps recover missing game icons after a firmware update and has no impact on gameplay performance.

The community response has been largely critical, with many players mocking the suggestion. These issues have been reported ever since the release of the DLC so we are due for an actual fix.

One user mentioned experiencing terrible game performance out of the blue, only to find it improved after using the “Rebuild Database” function. However, these instances seem to be outliers, and many in the community view the suggestion as a placebo rather than a genuine fix.

Other players shared personal anecdotes of the method having no impact on their game’s performance.

The patch notes for version 1.12.3 did include some potential reasons for performance issues, such as unintentional ray-tracing settings and conflicts with third-party mouse applications.

On PC, players are advised to disable any third-party mouse controlling apps and check the ray tracing settings to ensure they are not unintentionally enabled.

Players are understandably frustrated with the ongoing performance issues in Elden Ring, especially given the high expectations for a game of its caliber.

The addition of new content through the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC has been well-received, but the technical problems ruin the experience a bit.

Despite these updates, many players remain dissatisfied with the overall performance of Elden Ring

The patch notes did include several bug fixes, such as resolving issues with certain ******* skills and boss ****** mechanics.

They even nerfed some of the more broken weapons and spells that were introduced in the DLC.

The community’s reaction has been overwhelmingly critical, with many expressing disappointment and frustration over FromSoftware’s handling of these technical issues.

Some players have pointed out that the performance problems seem more rooted in the game’s optimization rather than external factors.
