Best starting class and Vocation in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Although there are a few incredible Advanced Vocations in Dragon’s Dogma 2, what would the best starting class/Vocation be? There are four to choose from, so let’s help you decide the right one for you.

During character creation, you have the choice between choosing Fighter, Archer, Mage, and Thief. They all have unique skills to unlock and weapons to use to their advantage. Since you can change your Vocation, don’t worry about being stuck with your starting class. The best starting Vocation/class in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is Fighter or Mage.

  1. Fighter
  2. Mage
  3. Archer
  4. Thief

If you choose the Fighter class, you won’t have to worry much about being protected. I’d choose this class if you want a well-rounded offensive class, and they can easily upgrade into the Warrior Advanced Vocation later on.

Fighters are great for destroying enemies and blocking attacks with their shields. If you want to stay alive in combat and have no problems taking down foes, Fighter is a good pick.

The Mage is another great choice for a starter Vocation. If you want your typical spell-slinging class that can inflict elemental damage to foes, Mage is the one for you.

The only issue is that Mages are squishy, so make sure you stay far from enemies and have your Pawns protect you. Mages can also easily upgrade into most Magick-based Advanced Vocations, though there aren’t many of them.

The Archer Vocation has the advantage of attacking at a distance and hitting enemies in the air. They can also target ****** weaknesses and bring down flying enemies.

The only downside to an Archer is the fact that their only ******* is the bow, so melee attacks aren’t really an option. But there are still things to love about this Vocation, especially if you love using a bow and arrow in games.

I put Thief at the bottom of this ranking, not because I dislike them, but just because the playstyle is pretty unique from the rest. Many players may not find the Thief to be as alluring as the other Vocations.

Thieves excel at climbing on top of enemies and slashing them in quick succession. If you like the idea of getting up close and personal with large enemies, pick the Thief. One good thing about the Thief is the ability to steal items from NPCs and enemies.

Hopefully, you now know which Vocation you’ll start with at the beginning of Dragon’s Dogma 2! Until then, you may also be interested in whether or not this game has romance options.
